About Jean Gazis

Jean Gazis

Jean has extensive experience as a nonprofit communications manager. Previously, she was a writer and marketing manager at leading publishing and technology companies, both privately held and public. Her freelance clients have included firms in the publishing, technology, and food industries, business networking groups, and higher education institutions. Jean has also been involved in numerous small business and startup ventures. In addition, she has fulfilled the volunteer roles of Marketing Manager and Copy Director on volunteer marketing communications and advanced website project teams for the Taproot Foundation. She also volunteers as a special events docent at the Prospect Park Zoo.

Jean has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the Johns Hopkins University, with a Minor in French. She has taken continuing education courses in Advertising Copywriting, Fiction Writing, Copy Editing, Personal Essay, and art. She enjoys reading, writing, word games and puzzles, live music, wine, and bird watching. She and husband, entrepreneur Leonard Shostak, live in Brooklyn, NY with their two teenage sons.
