How to Post to Your New Drupal Blog

How to post a new entry on your Drupal blog (for 4.7, need to update for 5)

  1. Go to your site
  2. Log in
    • Method A:
      1. On the navigation menu (under your name), click "my blog"
      2. click "post new blog entry" at the top of the main content area
    • Method B:
      1. On the navigation menu or the Contribute menu (depending how your blog is set up) and click "create content"
      2. click "blog entry" for the type of content

    You are now at the "Submit Blog Entry" page.

  3. Type the title for your entry in the "Title" box.
  4. Select a category or categories if applicable.
  5. Type text of entry in the "Body" box.
  6. When you are done entering, click "Preview".
  7. Check your entry and make any changes.
  8. When the entry is how you want it, click "Submit."

    Additional settings:

    After step 3, 4, or 5, you can choose to change the default options for this post.

    • Input format: change from Filtered HTML to Full HTML if necessary to style your post(or choose to PHP if necessary and you have the user permissions to do so).
    • File attachments: if applicable, attach your file.
    • Menu settings: if you want this entry to have its own menu item (in addition to appearing under Recent Posts), enter the Title and Description here and select the parent Menu and weight.
    • Comment settings: enable or disable comments for this post.
    • Authoring information: change the author, make anonymous, or enter a specific date (i.e., if you want to backdate a post).
    • Publishing options: change the options for whether the entry is published, whether it goes to the top of the front page, whether it stays at the top of the front page, etc.



    As the author of the blog entry, you can go back and edit it at any time.
